Breaking news: Nigerian Army,Gen.Olubunmi Irefin dies of corona virus.
The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6 Division, Port-Harcourt, Major-General Olubunmi Irefin, is dead.
He passed out after contracting the COVID-19 while attending the annual Chief of Army Staff Annual Conference in Abuja.
The conference has been cancelled.
Participants, including Principal Staff Officers, GOCs, Commandants of Army schools, Commanders of Army Operations, and others, have been asked to embark on 14 days isolation.
Mr President declared the conference open on Monday.
He showed gratitude towards the Nigerian Army for its efforts in securing the nation.
The President said the military arm has remained resolute in the discharge of its constitutional roles and in keeping the welfare of soldiers a priority.
Buhari also hailed the Army’s intervention in the management of the COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria.
